The Daniel Boone Festival committee formally asked for the City Council’s permission at the May 10 meeting to hold the 71st annual Daniel Boone Festival. Their request had no opposition.
“I want to tell you how much we appreciate the previous years that you have allowed us to take over your city for a whole week. I’m here to tell you right now that I want to work with you all we can. We appreciate your support,” said Calvin Riddle, DBF president.
The formal request includes permission to close city streets, redirect traffic, use parking lots as needed, place the carnival, hold the parade and place stages for concerts and singings, just as has happened in the past.
“These are all the things the Daniel Boone Festival has been doing for the past 70 years,” said Debbie Bingham, committee member.
The 71st annual Daniel Boone Festival is scheduled for October 7- 13.
