A Barbourville man was charged with drug trafficking after a Knox County deputy found over 35 prescription pills on him.
According to police records, On Feb. 24, at approximately 11:10 p.m., Knox County Deputy Mikey Ashurst responded to a single vehicle crash at the junction of KY 3439 and Mary Payne Lane one mile south of Barbourville.
When Deputy Ashurst arrived on the scene, he observed a vehicle in the ditch pulling forward and backing up. Once the vehicle came out of the ditch, it continued past the deputy’s patrol car before it stopped. The driver exited the vehicle and, according to the deputy became combative.
Deputy Ashurst arrested Ronald D Bright, age 48, of Barbourville. During the arrest, the deputy found over 35 Xanax strips on Ronald Bright’s person.
Bright was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Menacing, Resisting Arrest, Terroristic Threatening, Trafficking in Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
