Alleged victim agrees to drop assault charges

The charges have been dropped against a man who was accused of putting a knife in his girlfriend’s neck.

Freddie Gregory, 59, of Woodbine, appeared in the Knox County Circuit Court for a pretrial conference on May 4 where Judge Michael Caperton dismissed the case without prejudice, at the agreeance of the victim. Gregory was facing a second-degree assault (domestic violence) charge.

The incident that led to this court case occurred on February 9 when Kentucky State Police responded to Prewitt Drive in Woodbine for an assault complaint. When police arrived at the scene, they encountered a passerby who stated a female was in a ditch off Dowis Chapel Road.
