The Tigers beat out their first opponent in the first round of the 51st District game 16-2. Pineville fell to Barbourville, at the game played on Union College’s field on Wednesday.
The Tiger’s would not allow the Lions to score more than two runs in the first inning, as the Tiger’s took over and scored a large amount of runs that allotted the game to last only five innings.
Collin Grubb was one of the stars of the night as he got several runs for the Tiger’s and helped get Pineville out quickly each inning.
A total of eight runs were scored in the first inning alone, with help from Matthew Dixon and Jaxon McWilliams who scored a pair of runs.
Corey Cobb pitched all of five innings on Thursday and helped prevent the Lion’s from scoring more than two runs.
The Tigers prevailed over the Lion’s 16-2 in the first round of the 51st District, but would fall to Knox Central in the next round 0-8.
The Tigers have had an exceptionally well baseball season and high hopes are for the Tiger’s as they prepare for next year.
