Barbourville man convicted of sexual abuse receives sentence

After a year of court dates, a Barbourville man receives his sentence.

Joshua Vandusen, 23, was formally sentenced at his hearing Monday, Nov. 30.

Originally arrested in October of 2014, Vandusen faced charges of sexual abuse, sodomy and incest against a victim under the age of 12. At a previous pretrial conference, Vandusen pled guilty to the amended count six of the indictment, first degree sexual abuse.

Circuit Judge Gregory A. Lay accepted the Commonwealth’s recommended sentence of one year confinement, and Vandusen will receive credit for time already served. Vandusen will be transferred to Leslie County, where he will await release.
