A two-car collision sent a Barbourville man to the hospital Thursday afternoon.

A Barbourville man had to be extricated from his vehicle after a head-on collision Thursday afternoon.

According to Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Tommy Houston, around 12:30 p.m. a 97 Ranger XLT, driven by Andrew Ancure, 21, of New Tazwell, Tenn., was traveling east on Hwy 6, when it crashed into a Nissan Ultima driven by Scott Martin, 51, of Barbourville. The vehicles collided at the intersection of Hwy 6 and Tan Yard Cemetery Road, approximately a half mile past the Barbourville levy.

Ancure was escorting a mobile home wide-load trailer when the crash took place.

Martin, who complained of prior back injuries, was transported to the Knox County Hospital by Knox County EMS where he is currently being treated for his injuries.
