Barbourville Independent Schools held a special called board meeting today, May 10, to approve three construction project waivers which will be submitted to the Kentucky Department of Education.
The three specific waivers are for a teacher workroom, a first aid room and a site-based decision making council office. In the case of the first two, BIS already has workrooms and a first aid room in place that are a better fit for teachers’ needs and requirements than new additions would provide. For the latter, BIS does not currently have a site-based decision making council on staff, thus argues they do not need an office. The board approved the waivers for submission to KDE.
Finally, the board approved the construction project design for the administrative suite, noting the original plan was approved with only two labeling changes, turning guidance and reception labeled areas into administrative office labeled areas.
