The last of five people accused of murdering Donald Mills in 2014 now knows his fate.
On May 21, a jury trial was held for Elijah Messer where he was found guilty of first-degree robbery and second-degree manslaughter. Normally carrying a sentence of 20 and 10 years respectively, Messer will face additional time for being a persistent felony offender. In all, Messer’s convictions carry a 50 and 20-year sentence respectively, to be served concurrently.
Messer will be formally sentenced on July 11 at 11 a.m. in Laurel County.
