Couple arrested for allowing children to live in trash-strewn house

A fight call Tuesday led to the arrest of a couple who were allowing their children to live in a house littered with trash. Deputies Brian Hensley and Chad Wagner responded to 2061 KY 3439 just before Stephen Trace in reference to a fight in progress. Upon arrival, Deputies located Kristina Jones, 24 of Barbourville and Nicholas Jones, 25 of Barbourville who resided at the residence with their three children.   [private levels=”basic”] Hensley said “it was the worst case I’ve seen in my law enforcement career. There was garbage piled up in every room along with rotted food covering the floors. The children were lying in beds covered in stains among the garbage.” Both Kristina and Nicholas had bench warrants on them for unrelated charges, but it’s what the deputies found at the home that had them calling the Social Services to the scene for the children. The couple were charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, along with the bench warrants. Both are being held in the Knox County Detention Center on a $2500 cash bond. [/private]
