Special to The Mountain Advocate
Not only is it the time of year that students return to classes, but it is also time for many organizations to begin their fall meetings. The Dr. Thomas Walker Chapter NSDAR Planning Committee made up of Claudia Greenwood, Mary Alice Lay, Nancy Hampton, and Bonita Williams recently made plans for the 2015-2016 DAR year with exciting programs ranging from Knox County Coal to Veteran’s Appreciation. Excitement filled the air as the group brainstormed new ideas to make programs more interesting. The August meeting will be a picnic at the home of member Lori Beth Hampton Brock. Constitution Week will be remembered with a proclamation signing and school displays. The year is beginning to be a time of great anticipation as the group continues to plan for meeting the goal of historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
