Special to The Mountain Advocate
The Knox County Health Department has partnered with the Barbourville Police Department and the Knox County Sherriff’s Department to provide sharps containers to local law enforcement officials. The Knox County Health Department purchased the sharps containers for the local law enforcement agencies after learning that local law enforcement officials are finding and handling used syringes without the proper means to collect and dispose of the syringes. This will allow law enforcement officials a safer way to collect the used syringes and once syringes have been collected, they will be able to drop these off at the Health Department for proper disposal.
