Donnie Ray Miller

Mr. Donnie Ray Miller, 66, of Bimble, passed away Friday morning, April 13, 2018 at the Hospice Care of St. Elizabeth in Edgewood.  He was the son of the late Calvin and Ruby Poarch Miller born on June 21, 1951 at Gausdale.

Mr. Miller was a retired employee from OPW, a Division of Dover Corp. and was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church.  He formerly was a member and deacon of the Lighthouse Freewill Baptist Church in Elsmere.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting guns, watching westerns, boxing, wrestling on tv and spending time with his family.  He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.

On October 31, 1970, he united in marriage with Glenda Sue Hensley and to this union two daughters were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joanne Miller and Rita Fay Stapleton; a brother, Tony Miller and a brother-in-law, Wiley Hensley.

Survivors include his loving wife, Glenda Sue Miller of Bimble; two daughters, Devona June Watson and husband, Steve, of Dayton, and Anita Rae Palmer and husband, Jerry, of Milan, IN; two sisters, Janice Sue McVey and husband, Ronnie, of Bryants Store and Linda Mae Brock and husband, Johnny, of Williamsburg; four brothers, Oscar Leon Miller and wife, Joyce, of Cohutta, GA, Robert B. Miller and wife, Rosie, of Newport, James Edward Miller and wife, Lisa, of Chatsworth, GA and John William Miller and wife, Shairon, of Cannon; four grandchildren, Jerry Lynn Palmer III and wife, Danielle, Angelika Rae Watson, William Travis Glen Hensley and LeeAnn Bates; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hazel Buchanan, Edna Bowling, Ruby and Daniel Spencer, Lenden Keith and Lou Hensley, Phyllis and Garry Fryman, Hiram David and Reba Hensley, Donald Glen Hensley, Roger Dale Hensley, Chris and Ellen Hensley, Steven and Paula Hensley and Joneda Gayle and Bill Dunn; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service was conducted at the Springfield Baptist Church Tuesday, April 17 at 1 P.M. with Pastor Mike Helton and Rev. Keith Blair officiating.  He was laid to rest in the Goodin Cemetery with military funeral honors.

Casket bearers were Chris Hensley, Travis Hensley, Jerry L. Palmer Jr., Jerry L. Palmer III, Steve A. Watson and Keith Hensley.  Honorary bearers were his brothers.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
