An unlucky driver collided with an abandoned ATV Friday, Dec. 18.

Hannah Lewis, 19, of Lilly, was traveling along KY 830 when she saw an unoccupied Yamaha side-by-side ATV in the north bound lane at the junction of Popular Grove Road. Lewis attempted to swerve to miss the vehicle, but struck the ATV with her Chevy Aveo, causing her to overturn. Lewis’ vehicle landed off the roadway.

Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Mikey Anhurst responded to the scene.

Lewis received non-life threatening injures and was transported by Knox EMS to the Baptist Health Care Hospital in Corbin.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, the ATV had been seen earlier that day being towed behind another vehicle.

Deputy Anhurst is continuing the investigation.
