Drug roundup suspects face judge

Individuals arrested in last week’s drug roundup appeared in circuit court Friday, Sept. 25., as Judge Gregory A. Lay handed down indictments. Of the 24 cases presented, 14 were drug related.

“It’s obviously our number one problem,” explained Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith. “Drugs are all over the county, we’re doing everything we can to stop it.”

Sheriff Smith says law enforcement will continue to perform roundups to help control the issue, he said, “It’s a continuous, on-going effort.”

The Knox County Grand Jury returned the following indictments on Friday, Sept. 25:

•Harley Smith, 28, of Frankfort, first degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree persistent felony offender.

•Brandon D. Bledsoe, 33, of Barbourville, first degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

•Jonathan Patterson, 34, of Hinkle, second degree manslaughter, first degree unlawful transaction with a minor., compliciy to theft by unlawful taking of the value of $500 of more but less than $10,000.

•Tamicca Carton, 28, of Barbourville, two counts of second degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

•Angela Robbins, 25, of Cawood, three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance.

•Crystal Bennett, 39, of Flat Lick, first degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

•George Smith, 54, of Barbourville, second degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

•Wendell Carter, 51, of Barbourville, first degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

•Marsha Lake, 57, of Barbourville, four counts of trafficking in a controlled substance.

•Robert Hembree, 44, of Barbourville, two counts of second degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

•Donna Smith, 35, of Barbourville, three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance.

•Christine G. Mcvey, 44, of Walker, trafficking in a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school, second degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

•Alston Southwell, Jr., 44, of Barbourville, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, second degree persistent felony offender, first degree possession of a controlled substance, first degree trafficking in a controlled substance, fourth degree assault, first degree persistent felony offender.

•Brain Phillips, 37, of Corbin, two counts of second degree criminal possession of  forged instrument, first degree persistent felony offender.

•Anthony Sizemore, 30, of London, first degree wanton endangerment, first degree robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fourth degree assault, first degree persistent felony offender.

•Charles Miller, 47, of Gray, theft by unlawful taking of the value of $500 or more but less than $10,000.

•Randy Burnett, 44, of Flat Lick, driving a motor vehicle while license is revoked or suspended for driving under the influence, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, failure to maintain automobile insurance, third degree criminal mischief.

•Jason T. Tunstall, 30, of Woodbine, two counts of theft of a firearm.

•Ryan K. Hendrickson, 24, of Pineville, first degree fleeing of evading the police, first degree wanton endangerment, speeding, reckless driving, second degree persistent felony offender.

•Jeremy Grubb, 34, of Siler, theft by unlawful taking of the value of $500 or more but less than $10,000.

• Jackie Boles, 39, of Barbourville, receiving stolen property of the value of $500 or more but less than $10,000, first degree persistent felony offender.

•Allen Honeycutt, 37, of Artemus, receiving stolen property of the value of $500 or more but less than $10,000.

•Steve Jones, 33, and Thomas Cupp, 37, of Woodbine, third degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking of the value of $500 or more but less than $10,000.

•Kelly Davidson, Jr., 25, of Barbourville, manufacturing methamphetamine.

•Jennifer Wheat, 30, of Cannon, three counts first degree wanton endangerment, two counts second degree assault, first degree fleeing or evading the police, first degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, reckless driving, theft by unlawful taking of the value of less than $500, speeding, second degree possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of a legend drug, driving a motor vehicle while license is revoked or suspended.

•Darrell W. Blevins, Jr., 29, of Hinkle, first degree criminal abuse, second degree assault.
