Union College’s Julia Edmonds (JR/Burlington, Ky.) was honored as the Appalachian Athletic Conference’s Attacker of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. The weekly award is the first of Edmonds’ career.
This past weekend, Edmonds helped lead the Bulldogs to 3-0 victories over Truett-McConnell (Ga.) and Reinhardt (Ga.). Union has won 13 straight matches in AAC play, dating back to the 2014 season. The Bulldogs have complied a 10-3 record on the season, while starting off 5-0 in conference play.
In the sweep, Edmonds combined for 18 kills, including a season-high 10 kills in the Sept. 19 win over Reinhardt.
She now has 91 kills on the season, ranking fourth on the team. In the two matches, Edmonds went 18-for-34 on kill attempts, finishing with a .382 hitting percentage.
Edmonds has been instrumental in the Bulldogs defensive presence at the net, tallying 41 blocks on the season, which ranks fourth in the AAC. She ranks fifth in the conference in blocks per set (0.8).
