Two Knox County men were sent to jail on Saturday, July 9 after a fight broke out at the Bimble Shell Station.
Knox County Deputy Keith Liford responded to the scene.
Deputy Liford arrested Michael Sampson, 43, and Joey A. Mills, 54, both of Bimble. Both were lodged at the Knox County Detention Center.
The altercation occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. when Sampson walked into the Bimble Shell Station at the junction of US 25E and KY 1304.
“Sampson walked into the store and just punched Mills. The fight escalated from there,” said William Stewart, Knox County Sheriff’s Office administrative assistant.
When Deputy Liford arrived to the scene, Sampson and Mills had taken their fight outside the store, both receiving minor injuries from the altercation. Once Deputy Liford separated the two men, he identified them and began interviewing witnesses.
After his interviews were concluded, Deputy Liford arrested both men. Sampson is charged with fourth degree assault, second degree disorderly conduct, menacing and terroristic threatening. Mills is charged with fourth degree assault. Both men have since been released on bail from the detention center.
It is not clear at this point why the fight broke out. Responding officer Deputy Liford is currently away for training and could not be reached for further comments.
