Former professor cleared of child porn charges

A former Union College professor’s case has been dismissed nearly one and half years after he was arrested for child pornography charges.

On May 4, Judge Michael Caperton dismissed Dr. Charles M. Jones’ case in the Knox County Circuit Court. According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Jackie Steele, “Shortly after further investigations the Commonwealth would not be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the images were of minors as required for conviction.”

The investigation is now closed.
