A familiar face has showed up in a new place. Former three-term Knox County Sheriff John Pickard has accepted the job of assistant Knox County road foreman.

“This was a position we had that was held by Earl Swafford before he passed away,” said Judge-Executive J.M. Hall. Pickard had 20-plus years of experience with Delta Gas, before serving 12 years as Knox County Sheriff.

“He knows Knox County roads very well. Based on my positive relationship with him over the last eight years, I brought a recommendation to the magistrates, and the entire fiscal court voted unanimously to hire him.” Hall said, adding, “He will do a good job for Knox County.”
