A Girdler man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of child abuse.

KSP Trooper Jake Wilson responded to a call from the Knox County Social Services at 4:37 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, about a five-year-old girl being abused by her father. The mother of the child had taken her to Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin for treatment.

The preliminary investigation indicates the girl was living with her father in Girdler at the time of the abuse. The small child had multiple bruises, cuts and scabs from the abuse that covered her body.

Later that morning Tpr. Wilson located the father of the child, Skyler Wilson, 25, of Williamsburg, who admitted to abusing his child. Skyler Wilson was arrested and charged with 45 counts of first degree criminal abuse and fourth degree assault of a minor. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

Tpr. Wilson is continuing the investigation.
