Guy Earl Millward, Jr. age 70, of Barbourville, died Monday, May 7, 2018 at his home. He was the son of the late Guy Earl Millward, Sr. and Alice May Meissner Millward, born to them on May 17, 1947 in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
He was the founder of Millward and Castle law office; he attended South River High School where he graduated in 1965. He graduated from Union College in May of 1969 with a double major of German and Political Science. He attended the University of Louisville Law School and graduated in 1973. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and belonged to the Knox County Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Association of Justice, the Kentucky Justice Association and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
Of all the groups and organizations he belonged to, his most favorite title was being known as Uncle Guy to his nieces and nephews and his great nieces and nephews. He was always ready to tell stories about the kids and spent many hours telling knock knock riddles and jokes to them as they swam in the pool. They held a special place in his heart.
His office staff was more like family than employees and they too will miss his direction and encouragement. He felt confident his partner, Sam Castle, will carry on with integrity and continue his legacy. Tommy Miceli, Liannie Parahoo, Kathy Baker, Suzanne Saunders, Amy Hayes and Paxton Middleton became extended family members, enjoying happy times and times of trouble.
Toward the end, Guy had wonderful friends and caregivers, Knox County Home Health Department worked hand-in-hand with Rodney Smith and Jenny White, as well as did Barbara Warren, Teresa Tigue and Caroline Mills who were so compassionate and did everything possible to make his final days as comfortable as possible.
On March 28, 1970, he was united in marriage to Yvonne West. In 1975 he became a dad to his only child, Allison West Millward, whom he loved dearly.
Preceding him death were his parents, Guy Earl Millward, Sr. and Alice Meissner Millward; his father-in-law, Roy P. West; his mother-in-law, Wenoma B. West; his brother-in-Law, Robert N. Kimble, and a special nephew, Roy Dean West, Jr.
Guy is survived by his loving wife of forty eight years, Yvonne West Millward, his daughter, Allison West Millward of Madeira Beach, Florida, his brother-in-law and his sister-in-law who were the brother and sisters he never had, Roy Dean West and wife Eiko of Barbourville, Bonnie W. Kimble of Maysville, Kentucky, his nephews and niece, George T. West and wife Jenny, of Artemus, Heather K. Jolly and husband James, and Robert N. Kimble, Jr. and wife Holly of Maysville, Kentucky, his great nephews and neices, Tyler Ellison, Cassidy West, Lindsey West, Aubrey Kimble, Bonnie Anne Jolly, Kaden Kimble and Faith Jolly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday May 10, 2018 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Hughes and the Honorable Sam Davies officiating. Burial and graveside services at the Faulkner Chapel Cemetery will be private at the family’s request. Those serving as pallbearers shall be George West, Robbie Kimble, James Jolly, Tyler Ellison, Wesley Bruner and Paul Lockhart. Honorary pallbearers shall be Sam Castle, Tommy Miceli, Jack Ketchum, Knox County Bar members, Charlie Phillips, John Reynolds, Roy Dean West, Daniel Boone Health Clinic and Knox County Home Health Employees. The family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home after 10:00 A.M. Thursday until the hour of service.
