Just in time for Easter, Knox Countians hopped to the Knox County Health Department’s annual health fair on March 23 to receive information about health screenings, emergency preparedness and for their kids to partake in an Easter egg hunt.
This year’s health fair theme centered around preparing for emergencies, be it terrorism or natural disasters.
“We’re just showing off our regional assets, just a few of the things that we have,” said Paula Niccum, preparedness coordinator. “Today, we’re showing this nursing kit on the go. So, if they need to go out in the community if some disaster happened, they can just grab this kit and go.”
Also on display at the fair were a water purifying system, an Ebola outbreak kit, signage and a large beacon light.
