Knox County’s children made the commitment to be Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs (HOFNOD) May 15 at the annual UNITE event.
In all, 29 fishermen showed up at the Brickyard Ponds to take advantage of the free fishing gear, snacks and prizes.
“We want to provide youth with opportunities for activities that they can engage in and might enjoy for the rest of their lives,” said Marsha Dixon, an event organizer. “[We hope] that later on they might make better choices.”
