Infant hospitalized in single-vehicle crash

The mother of a two-year-old child is currently behind bars after crashing her car on KY 233 Tuesday.

According to Knox Sheriff’s Deputy Mikey Ashurst, the driver, Jill Sizemore, lost control of her vehicle and impacted an embankment, causing it to rollover and land in a ditch beside the roadway.

The deputy said the child had been unrestrained in the passenger seat at the time of the crash and was partially ejected with its hands being pinned under the roof. Deputy Ashurst freed the child, after which it was flown to U.K. Medical Center.

The mother, Jill Sizemore, 27, of Big Creek in Knox County, was taken to the Knox County Hospital where she was treated and released. Sizemore was arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree, Operating a Motor too Vehicle Under the Influence, Failure to Use Child Restraint, No Seatbelt, Failure to Maintain Insurance, Driving Too Fast for Road Conditions, Expired Registration Plates and Expired Registration Receipt.

She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
