The Knox Central High School Football team ended their season and their winning streak Friday night. The Panthers travelled to Wayne County Friday to battle the Cardinals in the regional playoffs and were defeated 42 to 14.

It was a close game early on as Wayne County started off strong and scored first and then Knox Central came back and scored a touchdown of their own. Then right before halftime, Wayne County scored off kick-off return to make the score 14 to 7. According to Knox Central’s Head Coach, Scott Russell, it was a back and forth game in the beginning, “In the second half they scored and then we came back and scored again and then right after that they just kind of controlled the block on us. We couldn’t get any stops.”

The Panthers had a tough schedule this year, but still went far and finished with an 8-5 season. While disappointed with the loss, Coach Russell is still proud of the Panthers, “The biggest thing is we had a great season, we just came up a little short this week. We just got to find a way to win that big game.”
