Knox County Public Schools bus number 5007 was involved in an accident November 6 on KY HWY 3440, also known as Higgins Hollow.
According to Frank Shelton, KCPS director of communications and system governance, “The driver had completed the morning run and was on a practice run on their route using a different bus. During the route they meet another car which caused them to go off the shoulder of the road. There were no students on board.”
The passenger side of the bus was stuck in a ditch, causing the vehicle to teeter off the road in the back. The bus blocked traffic on 3440 for approximately 45 minutes while local wrecker companies worked to free the vehicle and clear the scene. The driver was able to drive back to the bus garage once free but the bus did sustain significant damage.
Kentucky State Police responded to the wreck and reports there were no injuries.
