The annual picnic for the Cumberland Valley Chapter of Kentucky Public Retirees (KPR) is planned forTuesday, Sept. 9 at Thompson Park (Highway 11) in Barbourville.
Public employees and retirees who receive benefits from any of the three systems covered by the Kentucky Retirement Systems (Kentucky Employees Retirement System, County Employees Retirement System, and State Police Retirement System) are encouraged to attend.
“We want to invite government employees from across the area, whether currently a member of KPR or not,” says Paul Guffey, KPR president. “This is an opportunity to meet or catch up with former colleagues, learn more about our organization, and stay informed about the current issues that are impacting the Kentucky Retirement Systems and you as a government employee or retiree.”
Senate President Robert Stivers of Manchester will be the guest speaker. Statewide vice president elect Jerry Connell and local vice president and legislative chair David Cornett will provide updates.
The gathering will begin at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish. The chapter will furnish chicken, soft drinks, and paper products.
