The Knox Central High School swim team had a strong showing at a local meet at the Stiver’s Aquatic on Dec. 13. The boys’ team finished the day in third place behind Corbin High School and Oneida Baptist Institute while the girls’ team took second place to Corbin.
The Knox Central boys’ results were as follows: Frankie Robinson placed second in the 200 meter freestyle and twelfth in the 50 meter freestyle, Brian Gibbs took first in the 50 and 100 meter freestyle, Dustin Massengill finished third in the 500 freestyle and fifth in the 100 meter breaststroke, the KCHS boys’ 200 meter freestyle relay team of Jordan Evans, Frankie Robinson, Bill Masters and Brian Gibbs took second place while the boys’ 400 meter relay team of Jordan Evans, Dustin Massengill, William Masters and Frankie Robinson finished third.
The Panthers girls’ saw Amber Leddington winning the 200 meter IM and the 100 meter breaststroke. Ellie Rose placed fourth in the 200 meter IM and fourth in the 500 meter freestyle. Meredith Russell won the one meter diving competition while Makenna Russell placed second. The 200 meter medley relay team of Ellie Rose, Amber Leddington, Meredith Russell and Laura Beth Mills came in fourth while the 200 meter freestyle relay consisting of Kristin Smith, Laura Beth Mills, Makenna Russell and Meredith Russell finished third.
Barbourville High School saw Jaxon Ketcham placing first in the one meter diving event and fourteenth in the 50 meter freestyle.
