The final round of the Knox County Elementary Boy’s Basketball Tip-Off Tournament was held Thursday, Nov. 5 at Knox Central Middle School. After competing earlier in the week, the final games were played Thursday evening to determine the A Team and B Team winners.
Jesse D. Lay Elementary defeated Girdler Elementary and took home the B Team third place trophy and Girdler finished in fourth place. For the B Team Championship, Flat Lick Elementary went up against Central Elementary in a close battle. Both teams gave it their all, but the Flat Lick Wildcats were the ones to come out on top. The Flat Lick Elementary Wildcats were awarded the B Team first place trophy and Central Elementary was given the second place trophy.
After the B Team competition, the A Teams took the court to quickly begin warming up for their final games. Girdler Elementary was matched with Dewitt Elementary to determine the third and fourth place winners. Girdler defeated Dewitt and earned the third place trophy and Dewitt was presented with fourth place. The final game of the evening was the A Team championship game. G.R. Hampton Elementary went head-to-head with Jesse D. Lay Elementary in an intense matchup. Both teams clearly had their eyes on that first place prize as they played with heart and never backed down from their opponent. The G.R. Hampton Cougars defeated the Lay Trojans and cheered with joy when they were awarded the A Team championship trophy. Lay Elementary was then given their hard earned second place trophy.
