Knox County Clerk Mike Corey is reminding registered voters who wish to vote in another party’s May 2015 Primary Election or be a candidate as a member of another political party in the regularly scheduled 2015 elections, they must change their registration no later than Dec. 31, 2014.
Those wishing to change their affiliation must go to the county clerk’s office and fill out a new registration card by noon Wednesday, Dec. 31, at which time the office will be closing for the holiday.
To be qualified to vote in a partisan primary election, a voter must have been a member of that party on Dec. 31 of the preceding year or a new registrant who has not changed his or her affiliation.
Voters can verify their current registration status through the State Board of Elections’ Voter Information Center.
Registration forms are available at the county clerks’ office or can be downloaded from the State Board of Elections’ website. Qualified military and overseas voters can also update their registration information at https://kyfpca.secureballotusa.com/.
Registration cards submitted by mail must be postmarked by Dec. 31, 2014. Registration forms submitted in person or electronically must be received by the county clerk’s office by the deadline.
The deadline for new voter registration will be the close of business on April 20, 2015.
If anyone has any questions concerning voter registration, call the Knox County Clerk’s office at 546-3568 in Barbourville or 258-8430 in Corbin.
