Police found the body of a Knox County native dead in her Louisville apartment Friday afternoon. Media sources say Porcia Mills, 24, formerly of the Big Creek community in Knox County, was stabbed multiple times. Her two-year-old son, Zayden, had reportedly been left alone in another room in the apartment for two days with no food or water before police found them.
Anthony Merida, the child’s father, told WHAS11 that when he arrived at the apartment Friday to check on Mills and their son, it was obvious something was wrong.
“It was just an unbelievable experience having to watch my son in this window screaming and knowing that I couldn’t do anything,” he told the reporter, as he motioned to a window on the second floor and far left of the two-story white building.
Mills’ live-in boyfriend, Deshon Dorsey, has been arrested and charged with her murder. He has also been charged with endangering the welfare of a child. At a Dec. 15 court arraignment, Dorsey pled not guilty to the charges.
Merida told reporters that he and Mills had broken up, but were trying to work things out.
Funeral arrangements for Porcia Mills will held at 2 p.m. Friday at Hampton Funeral Home. Her burial will follow at the Mills Cemetery at Mills.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the service hour Friday at the funeral home chapel.
Porcia Mills is the daughter of Jerry Lee Mills and Bonnie Sue (Stewart) Mills.
