Knox Schools recipient of $30 million grant

Knox Central High Schools students gathered in the gymnasium on November 20 for a “Welcome to the Neighborhood” assembly in which the school celebrated receiving a U.S. Department of Education Promise Neighborhood grant through Berea College.

The $30M grant will span over the next five years and will put money directly back into the county by offering many services and programs. A few of these include safety and wellness activities, family engagement services, early childhood programs, college ready services, leadership programs and academic support.

“We’ve got a lot of good things happening in Knox Central and across the district…We’re glad to be here and you’re going to be seeing more of us over the next five years,” said Carla Jordan, Knox Promise Neighborhood Coordinator for Knox County Schools.
