Lady Panthers bring home title at Harlan All-Comers, finish fifth at North Laurel.

The Lady Panther Track and Field team continued the 2015 season this past week with a first place finish at the Harlan County All-Comers meet and a fifth place finish at North Laurel High School on Friday night.

Knox Central’s Janelle Reed and Emily Davis led the way for the Panthers with Reed finishing first in the 300 meter hurdles (55.7) and Davis winning the high jump (4’6”) at the Harlan County meet.

Other notable performances at Harlan include a fourth place finish by the 4×100 meter relay team of Eve Lacefield, Katilyn Bays, Reagan Trent and Emily Davis (1:00.5). The 4×200 meter relay team of Ashley Visoso, Megan Brown, Eve Lacefield and Elizabeth Teague finished sixth with a time of 2:20.7.

Ashley Visoso, Janelle Reed, Amber Brown and Emily Davis scored six points for their team in the 4×400 meter relay with a third place finish while the 4×800 meter relay team of Caseylynn Brooks, Megan Brown, Amber Brown and Madison Gibson (14:07.8) came across the finish line in fourth place.

Janelle Reed won the 300 meter hurdles in convincing fashion with a time of 55.7 seconds while Tiffany Stewart (21.1) finished third and Eve Lacefield (23.7) came in fifth in the 100 meter hurdles.

Madison Gibson (3:02.3) placed fourth in the 800 meter run while Megan Brown crossed the line at 3:19.9.

The Lady Panther’s Elizabeth Teague ran the 3200 meters coming in sixth with a time of 18:09.9.

Madison Gibson (6:42.5) finished the 1600 meter run in second place behind Letcher County’s Kacey Trout (6:36.1) while Megan Brown (7:19.9) crossed the line in sixth.

Amber Brown and Janelle Reed each jumped 12’11 ½” for a third place tie in the long jump while Madison Gibson went 11’11 ½” for seventh place.

The triple jump saw Caseylynn Brooks jump for 27’ 1 ½” in the triple jump for a second place finish and teammate Amber Brown (25’ 10 ½”) finished fourth.

The high jump was dominated by the Panthers with Emily Davis, Caseylynn Brooks and Janelle Reed all clearing 4’ 4” to top the leader board.

Carson Miller threw for 27’ 8.4” in the shot put and finished second to secure eight points for the Lady Panthers. Hannah Mills (26’ 0”), Rebecca Brown (23’ 2”) and Rachel Brown (22’ 8.4”) competed for the Panthers in the shot put event.

The discus throw had Hannah Mills (71’09”) place fourth while Rachel Brown (57’11”) and Rebecca Brown (57’01”) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Carson Miller posted a throw of 50’10”.

Ashley Visoso scored six points in the pole vault with a height of 7’0” and Emily Davis secured six points with a third place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:11.1.

The Lady Panthers will be back in action this Friday, April 3 at Knox Central High School for the Tommy Smith Invitational.
