Teach For America – Appalachia’s new corps members recently began their summer training. During the past week they learned more about the work they will be doing, and also began exploring the community.

On Thursday, 25 new corps members with Teach For America’s Appalachia Region visited the Lend-A-Hand Center. While there, they learned more about the founders, Peggy Kemner and Irma Gall, and their work in Knox County, which is one of Teach For America’s partner school districts. They spent the morning exploring the community of Stinking Creek, feeding the goats, and visiting with Kemner and Gall.
