Man arrested for threatening police

A Barbourville man is behind bars after police say he made threats on Facebook, specifically toward law enforcement.

On April 21 and 22, Timothy Roark, 29, of Barbourville, posted threats to kill all Knox County Police Officers on his Facebook account.

“Kill Knox county police department promise my word…” reads one of Roark’s Facebook posts on April 22.

Roark also posted on the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page that he would specifically kill Officer Adam Townsley with the Barbourville Police Department.

The public immediately sprang into action, alerting authorities of the threats being made. Townsley lauched a full-scale investigation, working with the Kentucky State Police and their Electronic Crimes division. Through information obtained in the investigation, Townsley obtained a warrant for 32 counts of terroristic threatening, one count for each Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy and Barbourville Police Department officer.
