Man pleads guilty in death of Barbourville woman

A Corbin man whom police say was driving under the influence when he ran, head-on into another car on Ky. 229 in 2016, killing Sherry King, 47, of Barbourville, has pleaded guilty.

Eric J. Cassidy, 35, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree manslaughter during an appearance in Laurel Circuit Court.

In return for the guilty plea, prosecutors recommended the court impose a 20-year prison sentence upon Cassidy.

Cassidy is scheduled to return to court at 1 p.m. on May 29 for formal sentencing.
