A Flat Lick man was arrested at the Flat Lick Post Office Monday afternoon. Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith and Deputy Andrew Lawson responded to a call of an intoxicated man with a gun at the post office. When they arrived, they found a man walking on the side of roadway near the post office.
Deputy Lawson determined the man was under the influence and arrested him for public intoxication. During the arrest Deputy Lawson also found prescription medication in an unmarked pill container. David V. Miller, age 50, of Flat Lick, was wearing a handgun on his side in plain view at the time of his arrest and was not charged with any firearms violations. The handgun was released to a family member.
Miller was charged with Public Intoxication/Controlled Substance and Prescription Controlled Substance not in Original Container. He was also wanted on a Knox County bench warrant for failure to pay fines on Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
