Corbin Police are asking for the public’s help to find a suspected shoplifter who drew a handgun when loss prevention attempted to detain him in the parking lot of Belk Friday afternoon.

According to Corbin Police Colonel David Maiden, the individual has been identified as Anthony R. Sizemore, 30, of London.

Sizemore is described as a white male, 5’10”, 160 pounds with green eyes. Sizemore reportedly wears wire frame glasses and has pierced ears.

Police recently located the 2002 Ford Windstar minivan that Sizemore was driving at the store, at his sister’s house in London. Sizemore is believed to be driving a 2005 Saturn Vue SUV.

Maiden stated that about 2:45 p.m. police were called to the store at the Trademart Shopping Center in response to a complaint of a male shoplifter who had gotten into a physical altercation with loss prevention.

Loss prevention had initially attempted to stop the suspected shoplifter, later identified as Sizemore, at the door when the scuffle ensued and Sizemore was able to flee to the parking lot.

“While fleeing the violation with full force pushed an elderly lady to the ground causing her to sprain her ankle and bruise her shoulder,” Maiden stated.

A male customer also gave chase in an attempt to aid loss prevention. However, Sizemore reportedly reached his vehicle.

Maiden stated that Sizemore then reached into his waistband and pulled a semi automatic handgun, pulling back the slide as if loading the weapon and told them to back off

Both complied and the van was last seen travelling west on Master Street.

Maiden said the 71-year-old woman was taken by private vehicle to St. Joseph London hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Police have issued arrest warrants for Sizemore on charges of first-degree robbery, two counts of wanton endangerment and fourth-degree assault.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Corbin Police at 528-1122. Callers may remain anonymous.

Maiden stated that Sizemore should be considered armed and dangerous.

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies have assisted in the investigation.
