Police release name of shooting victim

Police have officially released the name of a man killed in an early morning shooting.

According to KSP public information officer Trooper Shane Jacobs, said that a preliminary investigation shows that two unknown males armed with guns made entry into a residence on Salt Gum Hollow Road through the front door, identifying themselves as law enforcement.

Once inside, a struggle took place between the homeowner and one of the intruders who then shot the victim, identifed as 29-year-old Donald Mills of Scalf. Mills was transported to the Knox County Hospital by his wife, where he was pronounced dead.

Mills’ body has been sent to Frankfort an autopsy.

Both intruders then left the residence in a maroon 4-door Ford F150 with tinted windows, chrome steps and a chrome push bar.

So far, no arrests have been made. The case is still under investigation by KSP Det. Bryan Johnson. KSP was assisted at the scene by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
