Families on Possum Hollow Road can finally drive safely to and from their homes. A section of Possum Hollow Road (CR 1139), about two miles off Hwy 25E, was washed away due to erosion caused by floodwaters in early March. Mike Mitchell of Emergency Management immediately set about applying for a grant to fix the road. A $240,000 grant was approved and the road slip was repaired in June. Brock McVey Contractors out of Corbin drilled 40-foot deep steel railroad tracks into the ridge below the road to keep the river from washing it out again. Seventy-seven rods were placed every three feet for stability. The road was then re-graveled.
