It’s official: the last day of school for Knox County students will by May 29.
At the April 26 board meeting, Superintendent Kelly Sprinkles announced that the Kentucky Department of Education accepted the district’s non-traditional instruction (NTI) days, officially putting the last day of school for students on May 29. Teachers will work one extra day, making their closing day May 30. The original last day of school for students and teachers was scheduled for May 17 and 18 respectively. The district will also remain closed for Memorial Day as originally scheduled.
The board also amended the 2018-19 school calendar to reflect students’ first day of school on August 7 and voted to apply for NTI day participation once again in the upcoming school year. Superintendent Sprinkles noted this is only the application phase and will be pending KDE approval.
