Boy Scout Leaders from across the district gathered in Barbourville Saturday. The volunteers met to outline ways to expand and improve the local scouting program.
Drew Stevenson the District Executive for the Mountain Laurel District said, “We worked with 578 area young people last year and all of them are being taught to do right and help the community.”
Stevenson said. “The better news about scouting in our area is that we are improving. Most of the items that we track from Cub and Boy scouts, show our different units becoming stronger. Our improvement, I attribute to our 145 volunteers that work tirelessly with our scouts. I wish to always thank them. Even though we are having this type of success, we are always looking for more help and kids to work with.”
If you wish to sign up a child or volunteer, Stevenson suggests the following is the best way to do it. “To find your local unit, simply visit the following web address: www.beascout.org. Or contact your local scout or scout leader.
