BREAKING NEWS: Second inmate escapes from jail

Nov. 22 escapee still at large

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for another escaped inmate. This one escaped from a state work release program around 12:30 p.m. today (Monday, Nov. 30).

Brandon R. Deaton, 19, of Barbourville, was last seen at the junction of state highways 1304 and 229 moving towards the New Bethel Baptist Church.

Deaton is  5 feet 11 inches, weighs 20o pounds, has blue eyes and strawberry blond hair, and was last seen wearing grey sweatpants,  work boots and an orange “work release”  t-shirt, which may have been turned inside out.

Deaton had been arrested Nov. 27, 2015 and charged with 4th degree assault and was served with a bench warrant for a drug court violation.

According to jail officials, Harley David Smith, 28, of Frankfort, who ran away from the correctional facility during evening meal preparation on Nov. 22, is still at large.

Smith is described as a white male with a medium complexion. He is 5’11’’ and weighs 180 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing dark-blue pants, a white t-shirt and black and white tennis shoes.
