At the November Fiscal Court meeting, a motion passed to present the first reading of an ordinance to regulate concealed deadly weapons on the Knox County Courthouse premiss. The ordinance is the first step towards a tighter security screening process.

“Other judicial systems in the area have security screening for both circuit and district court rooms,” explained Knox County Judge-Executive J.M. Hall, “and to the same security measures here in Knox County, we must first have this concealed deadly weapons ordinance in place.”

The ordinance, #20151125-01, will take effect after the second reading of the ordinance in December.

Other topics covered at November’s Fiscal Court meeting were:

• The Fiscal Court acknowledged the Wet/Dry vote scheduled for Dec. 29.

• All state offices will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 8 for Inauguration day.
