Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith is reporting the following Enforcement Actions:

On May 11, Deputy Claude Hudson arrested Franklin Adam Parks, 24, of Corbin, on three Whitley County Bench warrants for Contempt, of Court/Child Support and for failure to pay fines on several traffic charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 11, Deputy Claude Hudson arrested Brandon Basinger, 29, of Barbourville, on a State Parole Violation warrant and a Whitley County Bench warrant for failure to pay fines on Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Receiving Stolen Property. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 11, Deputy Chad Wagner arrested Benjamin Hammons, 30, of Scalf, as a result, of an investigation into a residential burglary that occurred on May 2, Deputy Wagner charged Benjamin Hammons with Burglary 2nd Degree. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 11, Deputy Claude Hudson responded to a complaint, of a reckless driver in the Girdler area. Deputy Hudson located the vehicle and arrested Carolyn Middleton, 39, of Grays Knob, for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Operating Motor Vehicle on Suspended/Revoked License, Possession, of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree (4 counts), Prescription Controlled Substance not in Original Container (3 counts), Possession, of Drug Paraphernalia 1st Degree and Giving a False Name and Date, of Birth to Police. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 11, Deputy Claude Hudson arrested Vernon Bennett, 40, of Flat Lick, for Public Intoxication after he came into Sheriff’s Office while under the influence, of a controlled substance. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 11, Deputy Claude Hudson arrested Steve Garland, 54, of Girdler, charging him with Theft by Unlawful Taking Over $500., Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree and Theft by Deception-Including Cold Checks. These charges stemmed from an April 20, theft at Gregory’s Junk Yard. Steve Garland was also wanted on a State Parole Violation warrant and a Whitley County Bench warrant for failure to pay fines on Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Receiving Stolen Property. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 12, Deputy Claude Hudson responded to a report, of an intoxicated man wanting to test drive a vehicle at Appalachian Motors in Corbin, After arriving at the car lot, Deputy Hudson arrested Larkin Sullivan, 38, of Corbin, charging him with Public Intoxication/ Controlled Substance. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 12 Deputy Keith Liford charged Brandon Bledsoe, 33, of Barbourville, with Escape 2nd Degree, Driving on DIU Suspended License, No/Expired Registration Plates and Giving Officer False Name and Address. These charges stemmed from a May 5, traffic stop in which Brandon Bledsoe escaped custody. After being stopped, Brandon was arrested and placed in the back seat, of a cruiser. While Deputy Liford was searching the inside, of the van Brandon was driving, someone opened the cruiser door and allowed Brandon Bledsoe to escape. Brandon Bledsoe had been arrested on May 10, by Deputy Carl Frith on a Knox County Arrest warrant for Theft by Unlawful Taking Under $1000 and a Knox County Bench warrant for Unlawful Transaction with a Minor 1st/Controlled Substance. He was still incarcerated in the Knox County Detention Center when Deputy Liford placed the additional charges.

On May 13, Deputy Claude Hudson responded to a report, of a reckless driver in the Bimble area, of Knox County. Deputy Hudson located the vehicle at the junction, of US 25E and KY 1304. Deputy Hudson arrested Susanna Reeder, 22, of Lexington, charging her with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Possession, of Controlled Substance, Open Container, of Alcohol in Vehicle and Possession, of Drug Paraphernalia. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 13, Deputy Claude Hudson responded to a report, of a one vehicle crash on KY 229 at Bailey Switch, When Deputy Hudson arrived, he observed a woman sitting in the driver’s seat and two small children, one, 5 months and one, 7 years, inside the vehicle. After conducting an investigation, Deputy Hudson arrested Jacklyn Goins, 25, of Middlesboro, charging her with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, of Drugs and two counts, of Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

 

On May 14, Deputies Claude Hudson and Keith Liford were notified by Knox Dispatch, of a man who was intoxicated and had been calling and threatening the dispatchers. The man was identified as Randy Burnett, 43, of Dewitt, When the officers confronted Randy Burnett he became belligerent and combative. Randy Burnett was arrested and charged with Harassing Communications, Terroristic Threatening, Menacing and Resisting Arrest. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center Constable Reed Murphy also assisted in the arrest.

On May 14, Deputy Keith Liford arrested Dexter Messer, 35, of Girdler, on a Knox County Bench warrant for failure to appear on Child Support charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 14, Deputy Mikey Ashurst responded to a domestic in progress on Gregory Lane in Barbourville, The male and female had fled the scene prior to Deputy Ashurst arriving. While Deputy Ashurst was conducting a search, of the surrounding area, he located and arrested Dennis Wager, 41, of Barbourville, charging him with Public Intoxication and Fleeing on foot 2nd Degree. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 14, Deputy Keith Liford arrested Mark Smith, 42, of Barbourville, on a Knox County Bench warrant for failure to appear on Child Support charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 14, Deputy Keith Liford arrested Charles Knuckles, 20, of Barbourville, on a Knox County Bench warrant for failure to appear on Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, DUI and several additional traffic charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center

On May 14, Deputy Keith Liford responded to a complaint, of a man passed out at the steering wheel, of a running vehicle on Buckeye Branch in Big Creek area, of Knox County. When he arrived, Deputy Liford observed Terry Honeycutt, 43, of Bimble, passed out in the vehicle with the engine running. Terry Honeycutt was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Possession, of Controlled Substance 1st Degree and 3rd Degree and Prescription Drugs Not in Original Container. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 16, Deputy Keith Liford arrested Autumn Tye, 33, of Barbourville, on two Knox County Bench warrants for failure to appear on Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition/Shoplifting charges. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 17, Deputy Mikey Ashurst received a call, of a domestic violence order violation at a residence on Hwy 6 approximately 5 miles East, of Corbin. When Deputy Ashurst arrived the victim reported that her son had taken her vehicle without her permission. While Deputy Ashurst was interviewing the victim, he observed the vehicle driving by the residence. Deputy Ashurst stopped the vehicle and arrested James Walters, 32, of Corbin, for Violation, of EPO/DVO and Unauthorized Use, of Vehicle. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center

On May 17, Deputy Mikey Ashurst responded to a complaint on Benny Lane one mile south, of Barbourville, Deputy Ashurst arrested Crystal Melton, 43, of Barbourville, charging her with Public Intoxication. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 18, Deputy Claude Hudson arrested Nigel Medlin, 23, of Rockholds, on a Knox County Bench warrant for failure to appear on Theft by Deception and Contempt, of Court charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On May 18, Deputy Carl Frith responded to a complaint, of a man firing a gun at his wife on Morris Lane in Hedrick, After conducting an investigation, Deputy Frith arrested Charles Wombles, 30, of Hedrick, charging him with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree and Assault 3rd Degree. While being processed at the Knox County Detention Center, Charles Wombles attempted to stab a Deputy Jailer with an ink pin. He was then charged with Assault 3rd Degree.
