Sherriff’s Report

Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith is reporting the following Enforcement Actions:

On March 24, Deputy Carl Frith and Deputy Claude Hudson responded to a one-vehicle accident on Hwy 225 in Artemus. As a result of the investigation, Deputy Frith arrested William Farmer age 40, of Girdler, charging him with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Possession of Opened Container of Alcohol and Failure to Notify Address Change to Department of Transportation. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 24, Deputy Carl Frith responded to a complaint at the Knox County Detention Center. A Deputy Jailer had found an inmate in possession of some broken pills. Deputy Frith charged B. J. Hubbard age 23, of Flat Lick, for Promoting Contraband 1st Degree.

On March 24, Deputy Drew Wilson responded to a domestic complaint at a residence on Leo Hampton Road. After conducting an investigation, Deputy Wilson arrested Josh Phillips age 22, of Gray, for Assault 4th Degree and Violation of Kentucky EPO/DVO. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 25, Deputy Keith Liford arrested Tommy Hinkle age 43, of Gray, on a Knox County Bench Warrant for Failure to Pay fines on two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Tommy Hinkle was also wanted on a Clay County Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear on charges of Possession of Marijuana, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, and three other additional charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 25, Deputy Keith Liford arrested Amy Lunsford age 35, of Hinkle, on two Knox County Bench Warrants for Failure to Pay fines on charges of No Operators License, Failure to Maintain Required Insurance, Failure to Wear Seat Belts, Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operators License and Contempt of Court. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 25, Court Security Officer Bill Hamilton executed two Knox County Bench Warrants on Scottie Baker age 42 of Barbourville, for Violation of Parole and Failure to Pay fines on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container. Scottie Baker was picked-up in Jasper, Tennessee near Chattanooga, Tennessee and waived extradition. He was transported back to Knox County by Court Security Officer Bill and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 26, Deputy Sheriff Keith Liford arrested Shavnda Reed age 35, of Artemus, on Knox County Bench Warrant. for Theft by Unlawful Disposition Under $500. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 26, Deputy Carl Frith and Deputy Claude Hudson arrested Daryl Mills age 39, of Scalf, on two Knox County Bench Warrants for Failure to Pay Fines on Public Intoxication and Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence charges. While being processed at the Detention Center, Daryl Mills was caught giving inmate Jerry Vaughn a pack of cigarettes. Daryl Mills and Jerry Vaughn age 35, of Gray, were both charged with Promoting Contraband 2nd Degree.

On March 26, Deputy Claude Hudson received a complaint of a vehicle being driven by a DUI in the Scalf/Salt Gum area. Deputy Hudson located the vehicle and arrested the driver, Gary Mills age 43 of Scalf, for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, No Operators License and Expired Registration Plates. Gary Mills was also wanted on a Knox County Bench Warrant for License to be in Possession. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 26, Deputy Drew Wilson arrested Christopher Powers age 31, of Corbin, on a Whitley County Arrest Warrant for Theft by Unlawful Taking Under $500. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 26, Deputy Sheriff Carl Frith arrested Samuel Phillps age 32, of Gray on a Knox County Bench Warrant. for Failure to Appear on charges of Violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO and Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 26, Deputy Drew Wilson received information that Melissa Robinson and Edward Williams were staying at the Best Western Hotel in Barbourville, and they had illegal drugs in their possession. Deputy Wilson located both subjects at the Best Western. After conducting an investigation Deputy Wilson arrested Melissa Robinson age 46, of Corbin, and Edward Williams age 44, of Corbin, for Possession of Controlled Substance 1ST Degree and 2nd Degree, Prescription Controlled Substance Not in Proper Container and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 27, Deputy Chad Wagner arrested David Caldwell age 26, of Cawood on a Pulaski County Indictment Warrant on for Four Counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Prescription 1st Offense. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 27, Deputy Chad Wagner received a complaint of a female passed out at the Wild Cat Market in Flat Lick. Upon arrival Deputy Wagner observed a female passed out in a vehicle. Deputy Wagner arrested Jenifer Grub age 31, of Barbourville. for Public Intoxication, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Jenifer Grubb was also wanted on a Knox County Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear on a Public Intoxication charge. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 27, Deputy Sheriff Keith Liford responded to a domestic violence complaint in progress at a residence on Old Barbourville Hwy in Corbin. After conducting an investigation Deputy Liford arrested Adam Manning age 28 of Corbin, for Assault 4th Degree. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center

On March 28, Deputy Drew Wilson stopped a vehicle driven by Billy Tate age 46 of Barbourville. Deputy Wilson arrested Billy Tate on a Knox County Bench Warrant for Failure to pay fines on Speeding 20 mph Over Speed Limit and Failure to Wear Seat Belt. Deputy Wilson also arrested a passenger in the vehicle, James Mills age 38, of Barbourville, for Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree and 3rd Degree and Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container. Both men were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 29, Deputy Carl Frith received call from Knox Dispatch of a female yelling at Knox EMS personnel at a residence on Lynn Camp Road in Gray. When Deputy Frith arrived he observed Jessica Collette screaming at EMS personnel. Deputy Frith arrested Jessica Collette age 32 of Gray, for Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 29, Deputy Claude Hudson arrested Mary Ann Smith age 25, of Barbourville, on four Knox County Bench Warrants for Failure to Appear on Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Failure to Wear Seat Belt, Failure to Maintain Insurance Public Intoxication and Terroristic Threatening. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 30, Court Security Officer Bob Lewis executed a Knox County Indictment warrant on James Dozier age 20 of Gray, for the charge of Rape 1st Degree. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 31, Deputy Chad Wagner arrested Billy J Roark, age 32, of Barbourville, on a Knox County Bench warrant for failure to appear for fine Payment on a Public Intoxication charge. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On March 31, Deputy Keith Liford arrested John Brock, age 47, of Barbourville, on a Whitley County Indictment warrant for Flagrant Non-Support and Persistent Felony Offender 1. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. Correspondence

On March 31, Deputy Keith Liford arrested Jeffery Baker, age 34, of Bryant’s Store, on a Knox County Bench warrant for Non-Support. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On April 1, Deputy Claude Hudson received a call of a man passed out in a vehicle on Elly Lane in Flat Lick. When Deputy Hudson arrived at that location he observed a vehicle backed into a wide spot beside the roadway with its lights on and the engine running. Deputy Hudson was able to awaken the driver John Gilliam, age 49, of Four Mile. and arrested him for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On April 1, Court Security Officer Bill Hamilton executed a Knox County Bench warrant on Samantha King for failure to pay fine for Public Intoxication. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On April 1, Deputy Keith Liford arrested Allen Messer, age 40, of Barbourville, on a Knox County Arrest warrant for Theft By Deception Under $10,000. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On April 2, Deputy Keith Liford and Deputy Claude Hudson responded to a complaint of a fight in progress on Cougar Edge Dr. 3 miles south of Barbourville. After conducting an investigation Deputies arrested Joshua James, age 30 of Barbourville, f, Edward Mason, age 39 of Barbourville. Becky Grubb, age 29 of Barbourville, and Maxine Patterson, age 72, of Barbourville, charging them with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Prescription Controlled Substance not in Original Container and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition, Joshua James and Edward Mason were charged with Assault 4th Degree. Joshua James was also wanted on a Knox County Bench warrant for Possession of Marijuana, Resisting Arrest and Public Intoxication/Controlled Substance. The four individuals were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On April 3, Deputy Keith Liford arrested Harvey Cain, age 30, of Artemus, on a Knox County Arrest warrant for failure to pay fines on a Public Intoxication charge. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On April 3, Deputy Keith Liford arrested Ted Davis, age 28, of Bimble, on two Knox County Arrest warrants for Assault 4th Degree and Theft by Unlawful Taking Under $500 He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

0n April 3, Deputy Carl Frith observed a vehicle parked on the lot at Tim Short’s Auto Group in Corbi. After checking the vehicle Deputy Frith arrested the driver of the, Edward Ball, age 54, of London, for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st Offense. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

0n April 4, Deputy Drew Wilson arrested Kayla Abshire, age 26, of Bryant’s Store, on a Pike County Bench warrant for failure to appear on Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence charge and a Whitley County Bench warrant for failure to pay fines on Possession of Marijuana, Speeding and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia charges. During the arrest, Kayla Abshire was also found to be in possession of Marijuana. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On April 4, Deputy Carl Frith received two complaints on a reckless driver in the Bimble area of Knox County. Deputy Frith located the vehicle at the Shell Station at the junction of US 25E and 1304 in Bimble. Deputy Frith located the driver, Clinton Roark, age 37, of Barbourville, and a passenger Connie Rhodes, age 34 of Barbourville, inside the Shell Station and arrested both individuals for Public Intoxication/Controlled Substance. They were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On April 5, Deputy Claude Hudson arrested Brandon Mills, age 22, of Barbourville, on a Clay County Bench warrant for failure to appear several traffic charges He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On April 5, Deputy Chad Wagner arrested Vernon Grub, age 32, of Gray, on a Knox County Bench warrant for Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of Handgun by a Convicted Felon. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

On April 6, Deputy Drew Wilson arrested Kylen Lovett, age 19, of Woodbine on a Knox County Bench warrant for failure to pay fines on Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree and Public Intoxication. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
