The Barbourville City Park was packed with people Monday, July 4, waiting for the firework show to begin. Local vendors were set up to feed the hungry crowd, including Backroads BBQ and Crave Shaved Ice.
Audiences were awed by the display of lights.
“Everybody was very pleased with the show,” said Barbourville Mayor David Thompson. “We had a new shooter this year and I think they did great. We also had a new band this year – The Greg Finger Band. I listened to them for about an hour and I think the crowd was very pleased.”
Barbourville Tourism and the City of Barbourville put on the show for Knox County residents.
“Without our tourism,” said Mayor Thompson, “we wouldn’t be able to have many of the summer events, including the fireworks.”
The rain held off until minutes after the final firework was shot.
“Someone was definitely looking out for us that night!” said Mayor Thompson.
