Two men were arrested early Friday morning Jan. 9, off Upper Indian Camp road approximately 9 miles south of London after deputies charged two subjects on Laurel County warrants of arrest for receiving stolen property under $10,000.
Allegedly the two individuals had in their possession a 5 x 10 utility trailer that had been stolen. Arrested was: Daniel Witt, 21, of Baker Ridge Road, London and Dylan Southerland, 22 also of Baker Ridge Rd., London both charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000 and both lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Officials say Deputy Kyle Gray received information from the victim of a trailer theft stating he had apparently saw his stolen utility trailer being advertised for sale on a Facebook post. Through investigation Deputy Kyle Gray, along with Detective Josh Scott, were able to track down the original seller of the trailer. Deputies then set up an undercover operation for the original seller of the stolen trailer to meet and deliver a trailer to be purchased. Two subjects driving a Toyota Nissan pickup and pulling a reported stolen second trailer (not the one advertised on Facebook) was attached to the pickup and determined to have been stolen from Cotton road in southern Laurel County. Daniel Witt and Dylan Southerland were arrested without incident. Thus far, two reported stolen utility trailers have been recovered.
Assisting on the arrests were Detective Josh Scott, Deputy Kyle Gray, and Sgt. Brett Reeves. Deputy Kyle Gray and Detective Josh Scott continue to investigate the other trailer thefts in Laurel County.
