Knox County deputies seize drugs, firearms; man arrested

A 57-year-old Knox County man was arrested Monday on multiple drug-related charges after deputies seized suspected Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and firearms from his home.

On Monday, February 2, Deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department conducted a search at the residence of 57-year-old David Barnes on C Mills Road in Cannon.

According to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office press release, Deputies would discover suspected Methamphetamine, a large sum of Marijuana, a set of digital scales, and a loaded shotgun and handgun, all of which were seized during the search.

Following the discoveries, Barnes was taken into custody and charged with trafficking in controlled substances in the first degree, trafficking in Marijuana, less than eight ounces, first offense, possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with physical evidence.

At the time of the report, Barnes remains lodged in the Knox County Detention Center and is expected to appear in court for an arraignment on Thursday, February 5, at 9:00 a.m.

He remains held on a $25,000 cash bond.
