Funeral services for Big John Edward Patterson will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 1:00 P.M in the chapel of The Barbourville Funeral Home. Brother Kevin Caudill will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Lawson Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 11:00 A.M until the time of service at 1:00 P.M
The family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Big John Edward Patterson age 76, of Rockholds, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, July 24, 2026, at his home. He was a member of the Winds of Change Pentecostal church.
Big John was born on July 2, 1950, to the late Dempsey and Addie Mae Edmonson Patterson in Pineville, Kentucky.
Along with his parents; Dempsey and Addie Mae, Big John was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Danny Patterson; Randall Patterson; Stanley Patterson; JD Patterson, Burt Patterson; Brad Patterson; and Clarence Patterson, two sisters; Perlene Harmond and Mildred Eldridge.
Big John leaves behind four children, John Mark Patterson and Janice, Kathy Patterson and Eva, Steven Patterson and Kayla, and Joshua Patterson, twelve grandchildren; McKayla Patterson, Ryan McClure and Sterlyn, Laila Honeycutt, Noah Honeycutt, Keelin Honeycutt, Joshua Isaiah Patterson, David Patterson, Malachi Patterson, Gracelyn Patterson, Clowey Phelps, Noah Patterson, and Kaden Patterson, one brother, Billy Patterson and Brenda, a sister, Cindy Elliott, a special friend, Louise Valentine, along with other family and friends to miss him and to mourn his passing.
