Mr. Daniel John Essek, 61, of Flat Lick, passed away Friday evening, January 12, 2024 at his home. He was the son of the late John and Gay Elaine Fisher Essek born March 2, 1962 in Buffalo, NY.
Daniel was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barbourville, former peer support specialist for Comp Care and recently worked for Papa John’s. He enjoyed watching TV, keeping up with the political news of the day and loved playing with his beloved dog, Lucy. Most of all, he found joy in attending church and his bible study group.
On October 8, 2023 he united in marriage with Yvonne “Red” Swayed at the Fist Baptist Church of Barbourville.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, David and Stephen Essek; wives, Karen Ann Backus and Donna Gail Bowman and fiancé, Kathy Broyles.
Survivors include his loving wife, Yvonne “Red” Essek of Flat Lick and his sister Kathryn Essek of Buffalo, NY; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Due to weather conditions, services for Mr. Essek have been cancelled for Thursday evening and will be held later next week. Please check back in the coming days for updated service information.
